Would been so cool if you said what drives you were using in this particular preset; did mention the tube OD which Might have been the 1981 DRV in the AX8. I heard the rat for sure. For the Bigsky reverb, use the Deep Space reverb in the AX8! It is so amazing ❤Great tone though. The AX8 is totally worth every penny spent!

What did you use for mounting hardware?

We have had great results with the Black Magic web presenter HD and before that the atem mini/extreme line of encoders looks great and works without a monthly subscription fee !

What is the lens adapter do you use for LUMIX s5Iix camera?

We (lifeofgodchurch.org) have used @BoxCast advanced services for years. I am a fan as well. I can't wait until I'm able to get the new SDI encoder. Literally, in almost every broadcast, I make mention of BoxCast. It just works and has helped us level up our Life of God Experience Broadcast 🎉

Just curious how the HDMI output changes if any, currently I go from ATEM mini pro to HDMI output into YOLOBOX

We currently use a atem extreme and stream from that to youtube. How would this compare with that? We’ve had good results with it but sometimes it does take a while to connect to UA-cam.

I wish you would have showed it in action. How and where does it tie into your system? We play announcements from OBS from a scene then we switch to a live camera feed after a countdown (w/announcements), How does box cast do this when scheduled? How and where does it get it's feed?

i use canvas , its a website, lets you make slides, 5-10 seconds long save as .mp4 mac has nice features also props. i did used to put all my moms pictures of her dogs on her phone and then it ran slideshow mode, saved me hours of making a manual slideshow. i see similar time saving here. I'm gonna go ahead and use canvas and do this one by hand tho its for a memorial and i want to custom it. thanks tho good to know apple has made life easier once again.

I discovered this same issue with a Constellation 8k to a WebPresenter 4K. The Constellation was changing the color space to Rec2020. The WebPresenter also added another layer of Rec2020. I added a Decimator 12G between the two and made sure to output the feed in Rec709 to the WebPresenter. Fixed all my of my problems with saturation and dynamic range.

Really interesting observation. I still think the convenience/cost benefit of using the USB capture option is best for budget setups wanting to pipe in a few live action cams into ProP. But now I know this is another benefit of investing the $$$ into sending everything to switcher and then to the encoder. But once again, $$$

Hi Ryland, You have definitely opened up a can of worms on this one - thanks for sharing. If I record a stream on a usb hard drive will this issue still exist? I believe Black Magic should chime in on this and make a comment.

Thank you for documenting this. Useful info! I use the USB for ISO recordings so does to apply to me. I hope you could use USB c recording and Multiview over same usb with a dongle as you can record to multiple disks. But that would not be doable event with a firmware update because on webcam capture mode computer is the host and on ssd recording stem is the host of the usb bus. Blackmagic pushing their cloud if the support for recording to a network share comes to ATEMs which might happen then usb webcam capture (program/mv) would be extremely useful for many situations.

Thanks for this review. Glad you’re staying on top of the new stuff coming out - such as this! Agree with that 1/4-20 would have been nice. Some of our camcorders only have a cold shoe at top - above where the operators head (we use tall tripods), so we would have to find clips w cold shoe mounts. The price is actually not so bad - compare to what else is out there that is reliable. Cuebi tally lights were said to be a bust and cost more. My self-programmed arduino tally lights became unreliable after 3/4 uses (unstable connections). Having a dedicated full product like this is - in the end - good value, as long as they “just work.”

Could you let me know the piece you put on top of your slider that gives the camera a little height? We have a slider and need that piece.

We have a DataVideo switcher going to a PC with Vmix (paid one time - no monthly fee) and from Vmix it goes to Vimeo and gets distributed to our website, facebook, and youtube. Currently we're using Church Online Platform for our website stream, but in the near future, I'm hoping to have Subsplash which will replace that and Vimeo.

Didnt work for our Atem 2me production... would love to reorder it if it gets supported in the future. But hollylands support was horrendous lol.

You may need to use the "deprecated" version of the video capture source in OBS.

I tried that and noticed no difference. My ATEM Comsolation 1 M/E doesn’t seem to crush the color levels.

🤦🏻‍♂️ I wish I knew of this 3 years ago!!!! Hahaha we upgraded to the constellation this year! BTW, I found out that running USB out of the ATEM Mini Pro into a Windows computer did not have the same compression problems as it does with Mac. So, we just used a windows cpu for a while to run OBS. if anyone is on windows (or has one laying around that you were hoping to never have to use again 😂) this might be a solution for you. That CPU happened to die shortly after we bought the constellation so we are all back to Mac now.

Thanks for the comparison. We have 3 cameras into our ATEM Mini Pro, with USB out (as a webcam) to MacMini running OBS. We also have a 4th input into the MacMini via HDMI-USB capture card, for our lower thirds, and ppt slides. In OBS we are able to setup PIP, and stream that out to UA-cam. The HDMI out on the ATEM is used for Multiview. If USB out is not preferred, what are the other options? If we stream out directly on the ATEM, we are limited by ATEM's PIP capabilities.

Hey Ryland! Helpful info! I’m making some changes and need to use the Ethernet to stream in order to use the usb c for recording. Since I’m needing to use the Ethernet anyway, this is a plus! Here’s the thing, though… My problem I need to solve is-with our current workflow-I’m using ProPresenter over NDI into OBS. Using OBS to mix graphics and the ATEM mini Pro ISO webcam source and then stream to UA-cam from OBS. Am I able to use a dedicated Broadcast PC running ProPresenter to output the 2 separate alpha and fill channels using a video card, or is there image sync issues using GPU outputs for key/fill? I haven’t found definitive answers yet. (I’d much rather not buy a decklink card if I don’t have to)

What is a good alternative that doesn’t alter the image? I’ve noticed this same issue on the mini pro. I’ve tried compensating for it by lowering the contrast on all our cameras but it still doesn’t look great.

OBS is amazing! If you have a pc with any Navida card form the 20 series u can game on it and stream! U don’t need 2 pc anymore! Just so unnecessary! For example on my 3060 I stream to 5 platforms at the same time at 1080 and still get 100+ frames on fortnight for example! On my 2060 was the about 60/70 frames! If I can ever afford one a 4080 be able to encode 2k on 8 platforms over 100 frames! Lots of options out there but u have a 20/30/40 card you all ready have an amazing encorer

So, are you saying that on an ATEM Mini, you're getting crushed dynamic range on both the USB out as a webcam, USB out to a drive, and the builtin streaming app going to say, UA-cam?

Do you guys use the 8mm audio input for audio in the ATEM mini Pro? Does it affect the audio quality versus having something like a XLR input?

That's really interesting. I wonder why it is compressing it so much. The mini pro has more than enough band width to support uncompressed 1080p. I was reading their page and it looks like they are using H.264.

Did you have a chance to look at video being sent out of the Atem Mini through its network stream encoder?

What using the webcam usb-c out for multiview?

I have a free VMIX church license with which I can stream to 3 platforms. Will I get a better quality If I use the Ultra studio recorder 3G, or the Decklink mini recorder to capture to my pc

The most interesting comparison for me was the Hyperdeck Vs Hard Drive recording.. I know some of that dynamic range is lost through the USB hard drive, but I guess I've always assumed that ProPresenter or OBS that is adding to that issue?
